Mary says: You all really don’t like making this easy do you? There were some mighty fine entries this week and it was my pleasure to read them. You all should be proud of your work.
I have to give a shout out and Special Mention to Siobhan Muir - not only for running this contest but for the delightful snippets she sends our way. There’s something intriguing about that 911 phone call (and
how aware the caller was of the cameras) - you drew me in and made me want more. - Well done!
Nellie Batz | @solimond
Mary says: I love the banter between your characters. It gives so much insight and is a very effective use of 250 words. Well done.
Kel J. Heinen | @Aightball
Mary says: that first line drew me into the story and wouldn’t let me go. I love the image, and the idea, of becoming one with the blankets.
Richard Gibney | @ragtaggiggagon
Mary says: I love the combination of hypnosis and what feels like visualization/astral travel, and to what end? Well done.
Silver James | @SilverJames_
Mary says: You have a very strong sense of character and even in a short 250 snapshot, those personalities come shining through, and make me want to learn a lot more about them. You draw me into the story and hold me there. Bravo!
“Do I need to explain why you are here?”
Nikos Constantine, Drakon of the reigning Dragon clan offered a toothy smile as he adjusted his cuff-linked sleeves. “Dragon kind is always pleased to help the human authorities.”
Sinjen St. John fixed Nikos with a withering glare while remaining silent. Bailey was not one to trifle with.
“How is she handling things? What’s in her head?”
“Nothing but serenity and bliss.” Sinjen managed to say this with a completely straight face, his voice laced with sincerity.
Bailey snorted. “And your assessment, Constantine?
Nikos didn’t blink, clear his throat, or give any evidence of the turmoil sloshing inside him. “Agent Marquis remains the epitome of professionalism.”
The big man leaned back until his leather chair creaked, the sound punctuated by thuds as his feet landed on this desk. Fingers steepled on his chest, Bailey regarded them with gimlet eyes. “Do you gentlemen truly expect me to believe the shit you’re shoveling? This *is* Sade we’re talking about.”
He had a point.
Congratulations THIRTY-EIGHT TIME WINNER Silver, and Honorable Mentions Nellie, Kel, and Richard! Don't forget to claim your badges and display them with pride. You certainly earned it!
