Silver James | @SilverJames_ (Winner of the Tarot Cards)
Louisa says: Vampires, dragons and gargoyles? Oh, I’m intrigued! Silver hooks the reader with rich descriptions and a nice balance of dialogue and action.
Jo Hawk (Winner of the Goodie Bag)
Louisa says: Great pacing! Right from the start, I was on edge. Graveyard, a week before Halloween? What could happen? So much! The question looms: If they’re all empty, what or who is inside? The title of Graceland adds to the mystery.
Cara Michaels | @caramichaels (Winner of $5 gift card)
Louisa says: Talk about conflict. From the start, I wanted to know more about Riot and the “dead girl.” Love the twist on the line being the empty bathroom stalls! Powerful dialogue.
Eric Martell | @drmag00 (Winner of $5 gift card)
Louisa says: Oooh, love the tone of this one. I just saw tonight that our local art theater in Long Beach is showing Nosferatu with a new musical score so that kind of adds to the personal creepiness. Great contrast between the young vampire and the “Master.” Plus, like the banter on where to go hunting.

Louisa says: My romantic heart is drawn to this entry. The panic and pacing in the beginning work well to entice the reader. The piece works well as a whole for flash fiction with the beginning, rising action and then end (of the scene). We’re left with the same lingering like the silver on the lips, and the hope that there will be more.
"There!" I jabbed my hand forward, forced my legs to pump harder.
The cold metal sent a shockwave through my adrenaline-filled system. Frantic eyes and flashlight beams searching. Steel tables, equipment, medical supplies...
The vials had to be here!
Climate controlled chambers, bioha- Wait!
My flashlight swept back to the chambers. "I found them!" I rushed forward, snatching an extinguisher and hurling it at the glass. It shattered, twinkling to the floor like quiet rain over the noise of the siren. I reached for one; our only saving grace in this apocalypse. My hand froze. "No..."
"Empty..." Simon's voice was a near whisper beside me yet somehow I still heard it. "There's just one. The others are all...empty?"
Delicate fingers picked up the last remaining cure. I slowly turned to Simon.
"You drink it." Warm hands pushed it back toward me, brushed a strand of hair from my face.
I could not live eternally without him. But time was running out; I could hear the screeching inside now. I popped the cork off, downed the silver liquid. With droplets clinging to my lips I kissed him and prayed he would not burn with the world around me, but instead transform with me.
