Muirlette #2 says: What made me so happy about this story is that the woman decided to help the little boy even though she was scared.
Kel J. Heinen | @Aightball
Muirlette #2 says: The whole story that Aightball wrote made me feel so happy. I loved that the kitty's name was Waldo and how he hid all the mice under the refrigerator.
Louisa Bacio | @Louisabacio
Muirlette #2 says: I liked that the story made me feel the same fear that the character felt. Because I felt like I was there with her.
Can you think of any?
Marci didn’t want to walk down the darkened hallway to her parents’ room. The only thing worse about heading into the pitch black hole was leaving it.
On those nights where she had to, she’d hit the switch at the last moment and run-run-run as fast as she could.
Because she knew what lurked in the dark, waiting for her to turn her back, and she never, ever wanted to see it. Having her fears confirmed would be too much.
“I don’t know where Mr. Bear and Squiggles went,” her little sister Sammy complained. “He fell under the bed, but I don’t see him.”
She rubbed her eyes, as if trying to wipe away the signs of sleepiness. “Can you help me find them?”
Being the brave older sister wasn’t that easy. At times like this, Marci wished they had another sibling to help out. But while mom made dinner, some chores like watching out for Sammy fell to her.
“Sure. Let’s go get them. Where were you?”
The admission made her stop. That meant facing whatever lurked in the back.
“Do you really need them now?”
Tears welled in Sammy’s eyes. “But I wha-wha-want them.”
“Tell you what! Let’s play a game of Apples to Apples until Mom’s done, and then we can get a flashlight, and all take a look!”
“You’ll play with me?” Sammy always wanted Marci to play, but she rarely did.
