Mary says: This is a delightful self contained story that tells a lot about the characters and their relationship through a simple scenario. Well done!

Mary says: Woah! This one had me craving some serious chocolate. There was good by-play in there and the food comparisons blended perfectly with the sensual. Wickedly delightful.
Mary says: I loved the way this story drew me in and made me want so much more. The atmosphere and history you managed to cram into 247 words is incredible. Bravo!
Her gaze fell upon a man seated along the fringes of the inn’s firelight, the shadows carefully caressing the planes and angles of his face. He was royal, she could scent it in his blood, feel the copper essence of that privileged life warm over her lips. She nearly purred as she stood and sauntered through the crowd.
A flicker of steel caught her eye, her yelp cut short by the dagger that pinned her slim shoulder to the tavern wall. She hissed, her slender hand grappling with the hilt.
“My,” a woman cooed, balancing a second dagger. “It’s been ages since we crossed paths.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she breathed.
“Siren,” said the stranger as she drew back her hood, scar flickering in the light thrown off by the candles.
The siren’s blood ran cold at the realization. “Captain.”
A slow, sharp smile spread. “Ah, thatta girl,” she purred, brushing the underside of the siren’s chin.
She winced. “What gave it away?”
“You’re dressed like a whore,” she said simply.
The siren gave a sore chuckle. “I see.”
“Unfortunately, not the whore I’m looking for,” she sighed, yanking her blade free. The captain’s silver-blue gaze met the siren’s as her tongue grazed the scarlet stain upon the steal. “You’re free to go, darling.”
