Sandie says: I liked the "what if" angle.

Sandie says: intriguiging, makes you wonder what put the victim in harms way.

Sandie says: she kept me engaged and wanting to read faster to see what was going on with her story.
She nodded, wiping sweat from her face with a dirty hand. “Yeah. Who are you?”
“Derek Alexander, Homeland Security.”
Great. Just freaking great. Bad enough the airport fire department would have the FAA and NTSB crawling up their butts, now they had to contend with DHS too? She was too hot and tired to deal with this crap.
“I’ve been waiting for you.” That statement had far too many meanings as Derek leashed the wolf pacing just below the surface of his skin. His other self was howling to get out, to sniff and touch the women in the silver bunker gear.
“Yeah? Well, you can go on waiting. I have a job to do and it ain’t done yet.”
“I need to see your photos. And I need to see the crash site.”
Her skin paled, leaving sooty smudges standing in stark relief. “No you don’t.”
Derek softened his voice. “I do, Captain Carson. I have a pretty good idea of what the cargo was.”
He guided her to the R&R area, made her sit before taking her digital camera. He’d braced for what he expected to see. The reality was so much worse. Squatting in front of the firefighter, he vowed, “I will get the ones responsible.”
“That makes two of us.”
If she only knew…
