Winners Announcement:

Honorable Mentions

Sheilagh Lee | @SweetSheil
Deelylah says: She did a really nice piece on the angel tree topper, forgotten in a cabinet. I really liked the personification/animation of the angel ornament and her internal thoughts, worry. Nicely done.

Bill Engleson | @billmelaterplea
Deelylah says: This is the beginning of a powerful piece. I’d really like to see this expanded. Flesh out those characters. Because I already hate Cilla’s mom.

Week 243 Winner
Veronica Jorden | @RevolutionaryVJ

Deelylah says: I thought for a minute she was summoning Death. But I like this little snippet because I feel like I’m in the moment. The emotions, the resignation. Well Done.

In a moment of weakness I’d called to him. Begged him to come for me and take me away from the life that promised nothing more than the doldrums of sameness and a reflection I could barely stand to look at.

I sat on the rusty yellow porch swing, unafraid and ready. The guttural roar of a Harley announced his arrival well before his headlight pierced the early morning fog. If ever there was a man born to straddle a hog in tight jeans it was him. But then he wasn’t exactly a man.

A slow, practiced smile crawled across his lips revealing a gleaming set of movie-star teeth. His hands rested on my hips as he pulled me to him. “I’ve been waiting for you, princess. All you ever had to do was ask, you know.”

I hated myself for wanting him and there would be consequences. Once he claimed me there would be no going back. The coven would never forgive me. If this went south, I was on my own.

“I brought this for you,” he fished a small velvet box from the pocket of his leather jacket. “Might as well make it official.”

For a moment I thought about running. But as he pushed the ring onto my trembling finger I knew there was going back.

“There, it’s a done deal, sweetheart. Just you and me against the world.”

“Forever?”

He nodded. “And don’t worry, princess. Hell ain’t so bad. Running the place has its perks.”

Congratulations Five Time Winner Veronica, Sheilagh, and Bill! Don't forget to claim your badges and display them with pride. You certainly earned it!

Word of Advice
If you want to be a writer, don't think about writing or talk about writing; WRITE. And never give up on the stories.
