Because the new year is fast approaching and I have TWO releases in January, I thought I'd showcase a little of the first one. The title is BAM-BAM'S INKED HART and is book #3 in the Bad Boys of Beta Squad series, my military romantic suspense. The book is scheduled to be released on January 12 2016, but it should be up for pre-order here soon. Greg "Bam-Bam" Killian is in the hospital recovering from an injury and he gets served divorce papers. Kevin "Rimshot" Stanton stops by on his way to visiting his new girl. Rimshot is the first to speak.
“Yeah.” Stanton sighed and leaned a hip against the bed. “I was damn lucky she forgave me for shootin’ her, but it was a close thing. I was afraid there for a while she’d tell me to go to hell. But she didn’t. It’s given me hope that she’ll agree to marry me when I get around to askin’ her.”
“Married?” Didn’t that just beat all? Here he was, laid up in the hospital with divorce papers sitting on his lap, and Stanton was talking about marriage.
*Biggest fucking cosmic joke in the universe.*
“Yeah. I never thought I’d go for it after the mess my parents made of it. But Jaime’s the one, man. I can’t imagine not havin' her to come home to.”
“Yeah, that’s a nice idea. I hope she thinks you’re worth it enough to wait for you when you go on missions and shit.”
Stanton frowned then his gaze caught on the envelope on Greg’s lap. “Aw hell, Killian. Is that what I think it is?”
“You mean divorce summons? Yeah.”
“Shit, I’m sorry. When?”
“April 30th. At least I have some time to heal before I’m required to be in court.”
“Damn.” Stanton shook his head.
Don't you love it when you open-mouth-insert-foot? ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Charley Descoteaux, Jeff Tsuruoka, Gem Sivad, Goran Zidar, Veronica Scott, and Iris Blobel. Here's the blurb for BAM-BAM'S INKED HART.
Petty Officer Greg “Bam-Bam” Killian is done with marriage, done with long term relationships, and done with the Teams. The injury sustained on his last op has destroyed his dreams of being a SEAL as much as his ex-wife demolished their marriage. Now he’s free to do anything he wants, including get drunk and be miserable.
Zamora Hart has dealt with her fair share of men, both military and civilian. When a wounded petty officer washes up in her tattoo shop, she can’t help but offer him a place to stay for the weekend. She’s been where he is and doesn’t mind paying the help forward, especially when the friendship comes with some intimate benefits. It’s only temporary.
When Zamora’s ex shows up, frightening her with talk of starting over, Greg offers to stay at her place longer to give backup and repay her generosity. He doesn’t intend to fall in love with her, he’s only defending a friend while he shifts his career from active service to BUD/S instructor. But her ex’s threats become more than just talk, and Greg must step up his efforts of protection, because that’s what friends do.
But it’s only temporary and they’re just friends-with-benefits, right?
