You might have noticed that KindleWorlds by Amazon has shut down and the authors have received the rights back to their books. Everyone is doing something different with the books and I chose to edit a bit and re-release. RIMSHOT'S HARD TARGET is now available wide (rather than just on Amazon US). The sequel to Rimshot is BAM-BAM'S INKED HART, Book 3. And what's coming next? DELI'S TAKE OUT, Bad Boys of Beta Squad, Book 4. That will be out this month, and it has a direct tie to Rimshot. More on that soon.
In this snippet, we start in Jaime Hensen's POV, and she's on the phone talking to her best friend Chris Hunter nee Brickman about CPO Kevin Stanton hiring her to look for his sister. Chris, Retro, and Magic have their story in THE NAVY'S GHOST, which is now available in paper.
“Chief Stanton called me.”
Chris laughed. “Rimshot? Good. I’m glad to hear that. Will you be able to help him?”
“Yeah, I think so. You know how these things go. Could take a week or two, could take years.” Jaime shrugged even though her friend couldn’t see it. “But that’s not why I called. Why didn’t you tell me he smelled so damn good?”
Chris laughed again. “Does he? Usually when I was with him, we all smelled so bad, either from sweat, dirt, or briny seawater that I never noticed.”
“He definitely didn’t smell like that today.” No, he’d smelled like hot man and coffee, and those two things made up her favorite meals. “He also took me out to breakfast.”
“Oh yeah?” Chris sounded amused. “It’s about time.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Hey, I might have been getting married, but I saw how Stanton looked at you that day.”
“A lot of guys ‘looked at me’ that day.”
“Uh-huh, but Stanton never looks at women like that. The man is a glacier.”
Jaime snorted. “A glacier?”
“Yep. Hard, cold, unmoving, and solid. Nothing ever fazes him.”
“I don’t think that’s true.” Not after how he took his frustration with his father out on her. “I think he’s pretty upset about his sister going missing.”
“Yeah, I know.” Chris sighed. “But the good news is he called you for help. Big step for a SEAL, especially a sniper. He could use some good news. Magic and Retro, I mean, Todd and Jim say he’s been more distant than usual.”
Nothing like a missing family member to mess up your world. ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, Kathy Griffith Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel.
Here's the blurb for RIMSHOT'S HARD TARGET:
Navy SEAL sniper Kevin “Rimshot” Stanton has had one thing on his mind for months: Find his sister. When a retired teammate suggests calling a private investigator specializing in missing persons, he takes a chance on the woman he’s lusted after since a friend’s wedding. He hopes she won’t mind mixing business with pleasure, because he wants more than just her professional expertise.
Jaime Hensen isn’t the kind of woman to settle down. She likes the wham-whir-thank-you-sir lifestyle. But the night she spends with Rimshot makes her want more. Too bad he’s a glacier outside the bedroom. She throws all her concentration into the job to ignore the hurt.
When Jaime’s investigation gets too close to a mysterious company hiring only women, she’s kidnapped and Rimshot suspects they’ve taken his sister as well. He’ll need every skill in his arsenal to save them.
Rimshot has one shot to get love right, and he’s not about to miss.
