In this snippet, Estelle Three-Hearts and her assistant Amy are getting ready for their first photo shoot and they're talking about the firefighters.
“Right. We have to balance the need to get the photos with the firefighters’ work schedules. And reshoots, etc.” Estelle rubbed her face with her hands. “It’s going to work out, but it might take a lot of flexibility.”
Amy bent in half and grabbed her ankles, turning her head to look at Estelle. “Like this?”
Estelle laughed. “No. Stop showing off. Not all of us are a yoga master.”
Amy straightened and winked. “Hey, someone has to attract all those firefighters. You didn’t see one you liked?”
Estelle kept her lips sealed as she made sure her camera was cleaner than clean.
“Oh, ho ho. Who is he? I assume it’s a he. Have you met him already or did you just see a photo?”
Estelle rubbed the back of her neck. “Yeah, I met him when I went down to Newberry to talk to Uncle Jeff. I picked him up on the road. He was jogging in the snowstorm.”
“Oh, good. Someone just as crazy as you.” Amy grinned. “I didn’t think it was a good idea for you to drive that night, but I take it back. So, is he handsome?”
“What kind of a question is that? Of course, he’s handsome, a little taller than me, and broad shoulders. He had nice legs, too.”
“Nice legs?” Amy raised her eyebrows. “When did you get to see his legs?”
“I told you, he was jogging. He had on those thermal leggings, and they showed off all his muscles.” Estelle shivered with exaggerated pleasure. “I’m telling you, he has superhero thighs.”
Can't resist those superhero thighs. ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, J.D. Walker, Addison Albright, and Iris Blobel.
Here's the blurb to BURNING YULETIDE:
Estelle Three-Hearts has one goal for the holidays – finish her charity calendar for the ‘Smoke Detectors in Every Building’ program to provide fire safety for the citizens of Three Lakes. Luckily, her uncle is a captain for the fire department who’s recruited volunteers to pose for the sexy firefighter calendar. There’s nothing more fun to look at than half-naked firefighters all year round.
Mark Redfeather, a Firebird shifter, has learned to use his birthright for firefighting rather than fire-lighting. When his captain asked for volunteers for the charity calendar, he had no plans to participate – until he meets Estelle, and recognizes her as his mate.
Estelle is human and knows nothing about the Elder Races, but when an arsonist strikes her home and studio, Mark is forced to reveal his secret. Estelle must decide if he’s the monster she fears or the man who sets her heart on fire.
