In this snippet, Moira is in her coffee shop, talking to Aiden about the flowers she received and they took them out to the trash. It's her busiest day at the coffee shop and she's relieved to see none of he employees called in sick. Her business partner and best friend Talia just walked in the door.
"Good morning, Moira." Talia called as she bustled through the doors. "Looks like the weather is clearing a little and we might get some sun. Sorry, I'm late. I got to talking with my roommate Matilda. She went on and on about the guy staying with Sabrina."
"Oh?" Moira followed her toward the massage room. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah, good. Can you help me carry my hot rocks? I'm out of hands." Talia juggled her massage table linen basket as well as her back of towels and oils.
"Aiden, would you be willing? I can't leave the front now that we're open."
"Aiden?" Talia stopped, her eyebrows raising. "Wow, you really are here. Planning to stay long?"
"Talia." Moira shot her a warning look.
"Oh, all right. If you could take this, that would help." Talia handed Aiden her linen basket and strode for the massage room.
Aiden winked at Moira before he followed. Talia knew about all her pining over his disappearance, but it wasn't her problem to fix. Or to hold Aiden accountable. That job's mine. So far he'd insisted on making it up to her. We'll see.
More customers came in and she focused on serving them, their festive mood brightening hers. It got so busy, she didn't notice Aiden helping behind the counter until she ran into him.
"Oh glory, I'm sorry."
He caught her against his chest with a warm smile. A frisson of awareness shot up her spine and his scent filled her nose under the sultry fragrances of baked goods and coffee. She froze and met his cerulean blue gaze, the moment pushing away the world around her.
"Careful. You don't want to spill that."
She's not so immune to his charms. ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, Kathy Griffith Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel.
