In this snippet, Aiden wanted to know what happened to Moira while he was gone, but she's turned the tables on him.
Aiden dropped his gaze and pushed the chow mein around his plate for a few moments. "I left because..." He looked like something strangled him and his fist tightened on his fork. "Because I have really messed up sexual needs and you were too young for them."
Sexual needs? Moira blinked. She hadn't expected that.
"My sex drive is over-developed. At least that's what the therapist said." He grimaced and shook his head. "Of course, it could be she was just an old prude afraid of sex in general, but for years before I talked to her, I knew something wasn't the same as everyone else."
"And that's why you left without saying anything?"
"What could I have said, Moira?" He grimaced. "We hadn't even kissed, and I needed sex a lot more often than just once every couple of days. You weren't ready for that and I didn't want to lose you by taking things too far, too fast."
"So you hit back first by getting lost rather than losing me." She narrowed her eyes. "Nice."
"Yeah, not my brightest moment."
Understatement of the decade. "How do you know I wouldn't have been ready?"
He gave a short unhappy laugh. "Even if you'd been ready, your family wouldn't have been, and I didn't really want to fight off all your brothers."
She groaned and rubbed her face with her hands. "Yeah, they have old-fashioned ideas of a woman's sexuality and ability to choose. Even if they could screw as soon as they got hair between their legs."
Aiden laughed in surprise.
"What? The sexual revolution may have happened, but men still get the lion's share of allowances for sex before commitment." Moira shook her head. "Women are still expected to save this hideous thing called virginity for 'someone special' because men still can't tell who's the father of any children she produces. Stupid."
"I'll have to revise my perspective on this."
Sounds like he's starting to get a clue. ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, Kathy Griffith Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel.
