Back in 2012 I released HER DEVOTED VAMPIRE, my first paranormal romance. I recently received my rights back to it and I re-vamped it (lol) so now it's ready to read. I hope you enjoy the newer version of this tale.
So the snippet: Bridget has woken up, naked, in a richly decorated bedroom she doesn't recognize, and Fredrick, the guy she met at the coffee shop is sitting next to her. She just wants to borrow some clothes so she can get him. He's having none of it. Fredrick is the first to speak.
“You need to rest and it’s not safe.”
“Not safe? How is it not safe for me to go home?” She paused. “Please don’t tell me I’m actually the daughter of some CIA sleeper agents, and the government just has to have my help deciphering a secret message like the plot of some B-rated action flick.”
Fredrick laughed. “No, nothing so fanciful, but that’s quite inventive.” He shook his head and sobered. “No, it’s far more nebulous than that.”
“That’s just great. A perfect ending to a perfect day.” She sighed, slumping back in the bed. “Stabbed, kidnapped, and naked in a stranger’s bed. It just doesn’t get much worse.”
“Except, perhaps, being kidnapped by a vampire with a house full of werewolves.” He shrugged, a half-smile curling his kissable lips.
She snorted. “Thank God there’s no such thing as vampires or werewolves.”
He stilled as if the life within him bled away, leaving nothing but a quiet, waxen shell. His face lost the humor in it. Unease crept through her as she stared hard at him, clutching the covers so tightly her knuckles turned white. The scent of spiced apples shifted to a dirt smell, like moist earth or the desert after the rain. A shiver worked its way up her spine and her stomach cramped.
Right? No such thing...Right?! ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Charley Descoteaux, Jeff Tsuruoka, Veronica Scott, Gem Sivad, Jessica Subject, and Iris Blobel. Here's the blurb for HER DEVOTED VAMPIRE:
How far would you go to get away?
Bridget Shanahan’s life seems bleak and boring until she gets mugged and abducted from her favorite coffee shop by the sexiest man she’s ever met. Unfortunately, he’s a lunatic who believes he’s some kind of vampire savior surrounded by a security force of werewolves. Worse, he’s determined to keep her.
Fredrick MacGregor has been having visions of this woman in danger for the last six months. A woman he must protect at all costs. However, when he brings her home, she doesn’t believe in vampires or Avatars, and she definitely doesn’t want to stay. But the sense of danger persists and he’ll do anything to keep her safe, even if it costs his own life to preserve hers.
