Snippet Sunday - Getting Finked

Welcome to the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked for Snippet Sunday! January was a big month for me with two new releases. Hard to know which one to talk about so I'm going back to the first release, BAM-BAM'S INKED HART, book 3 in my Bad Boys of Beta Squad series. If you want snippets from DARWIN'S EVOLUTION, I'll be highlighting them on Wednesdays.

So the snippet: Petty Officer Greg "Bam-Bam" Killian is drunk and dreaming as he waits to talk to Zamora. Too bad the mermaid in his dream is giving him hell. The mermaid speaks first.

“Aw, are you stuck, Petty Officer Killian? Is that what you’re doing here?”

The questions didn’t make sense, but her derisive tone said everything he needed to know. He gathered his strength and made a herculean effort to pull free. The kelp released him faster than he thought and he jerked out of his dream to find himself on his knees on the floor of the tattoo parlor.

“What the fuck?”

“My question exactly. What the fuck are you doing here, Petty Officer Killian?”

He raised his gaze, following the feet stuck in Doc Marten’s knee-high leather boots and legs tight black leggings up to the emerald green “Girls Love Ink” tank top swelling over lovely, large tits. His gaze stuck there, taking in the large nipples pressing against the ribbed fabric, and his mouth watered. They’d taste so good I bet.

“My eyes are up here. The tits don’t talk.”

Greg jerked his eyes to her face. “What?”

“The tits don’t talk.” Zamora gave him a flat look. “What are you doing here, Petty Officer?”

He swallowed hard around the fantasy of tasting her big nipples. “I wanted to get f—inked.”

“Finked?”

He shook his head. “Inked. I want a tattoo.”

“Uh-huh.” She tilted her head and his world almost tilted with her. “I have a policy to avoid people who come in here six sheets to the wind before starting a tattoo. Saves on lawsuits and personal injuries to me and my staff. Come back when you’re sober.”

So much for his hot and sexy repartee. There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Charley Descoteaux, Jeff Tsuruoka, Gem Sivad, Goran Zidar, Veronica Scott, and Iris Blobel. Here's the blurb for BAM-BAM'S INKED HART.

Petty Officer Greg “Bam-Bam” Killian is done with marriage, done with long term relationships, and done with the Teams. The injury sustained on his last op has destroyed his dreams of being a SEAL as much as his ex-wife demolished their marriage. Now he’s free to do anything he wants, including get drunk and be miserable.

Zamora Hart has dealt with her fair share of men, both military and civilian. When a wounded petty officer washes up in her tattoo shop, she can’t help but offer him a place to stay for the weekend. She’s been where he is and doesn’t mind paying the help forward, especially when the friendship comes with some intimate benefits. It’s only temporary.

When Zamora’s ex shows up, frightening her with talk of starting over, Greg offers to stay at her place longer to give backup and repay her generosity. He doesn’t intend to fall in love with her, he’s only defending a friend while he shifts his career from active service to BUD/S instructor. But her ex’s threats become more than just talk, and Greg must step up his efforts of protection, because that’s what friends do.

But it’s only temporary and they’re just friends-with-benefits, right?

LOL She's pretty in-your-face straight forward. And she's dealt with all kinds. Thanks for commenting, P.T. :)

I loved the snippet. Made me chuckle. Loved his inner thoughts and the way he became so tongue tied, and enjoyed her snarky responses.

He gets tongue-tied a lot around her. But it's worse when he's drunk. Thanks for commenting, Karen. :)

Good answer. I think the guy is too drunk to get finked. That was a nice word though.
