Welcome to the Snippet Sunday on the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked. Thank you so much for visiting. If you choose to comment today, I really appreciate it. It's December. How the heck did we get here? It was just June a minute ago!

Because it's December and the holidays are looming, I'm offering snippets of CHRISTMAS I.C.E. MAGIC. Lily Sinclair has been rescued by Zach Snow, before she froze to death at Christmas. He's promised to show her the magic, and part of that is showing his true self. If you want to see the inspiration for Zach Snow, click HERE. Otherwise, enjoy the snippet.

“It’s amazing.” She brushed her fingers over a crystal snowflake and hissed as it melted a little at the heat of her touch, the light dimming. “Oh no, I’m sorry. I ruined it.”

“Don’t worry. I can fix it.” He plucked the ornament off the tree and carefully examined the misshapen edge. He focused the energy to remake the original shape and the ice leapt to his command. “There.”

“Wow.” Lily’s lips curled in a delighted smile. “That’s so cool.” She stopped and snorted. “Well, I mean, cool-amazing, not cool-temperature.” She beamed her wonder at him and ruffled the crystals on his forearms. “What else can you do?”

I can make love all night long and keep my lover satisfied.

Except she wasn’t his lover, just a woman he’d rescued. He had to get a hold on himself before he did something stupid and unprofessional. Giving her an apologetic smile, Zach shifted away from her around the tree, hoping distance would cool the arousal fueled by her scent.

“What’s wrong, Zach?”

“Nothing. I’m just having a tough time being close to you in my natural form.” He reached for his sweater.

“Why? Do I smell bad?”

He barked a laugh. “You smell way too good to me. Like Irish cream and snow lilies.” Oh shit, had he really said that out loud? “Sorry. I’m gonna get dressed now before I give into my baser impulses.”

Oh ho, not so unaffected after all. ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Charley Descoteaux, Jeff Tsuruoka, Gem Sivad, Goran Zidar, Veronica Scott, and Iris Blobel. Here's the blurb for CHRISTMAS I.C.E. MAGIC.

For Lily Sinclair, Christmas means sorrow and loss since the death of her twin brother. The magic is gone and she only wants to see her brother one more time. As an Ice Demon Zachary Snow is used to rescuing people in winter, but he’d never rescued anyone like Lily. Now he must convince her the magic she wants is in life itself.

I wonder what he is waiting for. People seem to always go hiding instead of starting the romance part, so strange.

An hour earlier she was trying to suicide. He doesn't want to take advantage of her. Thanks for commenting, Linda.

Maybe she wants him to give in to his baser impulses...

Oh she does, but he's trying not to take advantage of a woman who just an hour earlier was thinking of killing herself. Thanks for commenting, P.T.

The way he's trying to control his urges makes me like him more. But that doesn't mean I don't want him to give in to them! ;-) Great snippet.

Magic can be intoxicating. Seems like he is using it :tenderly". Love the action with th snowflake. I also like that he is fighting his urges. Very nice snippet.

Word of Advice
If you want to be a writer, don't think about writing or talk about writing; WRITE. And never give up on the stories.
