So the snippet: Petty Officer Greg "Bam-Bam" Killian is at the obnoxious portion of his inebriation when he thinks he's funny, but is mostly disgusting. Toby and Zamora aren't impressed.
“He’s a terribly pathetic SEAL at the moment.” Toby shook his head. “Coffee will be done in a minute.”
“I gotta hit the head.” Greg tried to lever himself to his feet.
“Hell. Toby?” Zamora rubbed her face with one hand.
“Oh, no. No, no, no. I’m not dragging his ass to the bathroom.” Toby backed away, waving his hands as if to ward off a magic spell.
“Well, I can’t do it. You’re at least his same gender.”
“Same gender or not, I don’t play with another guy’s junk.”
Zamora snorted and dropped her chin in disbelief.
“Hey, just because I’m bi doesn’t mean I find all men attractive. Especially super-macho, drunk SEALs.” Toby scowled. “You get to help him to the bathroom and lock him in. I’m sure he can find his dick even when he’s drunk.”
Greg frowned. “I can always find my dick. And the ladies can, too.”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Toby threw his hands up and stomped away.
“Come on, sailor dick. Let’s get you to the bathroom before you pee on the floor.” Zamora dragged him to his feet and shoved him toward what looked like a closet door covered in playbills from local drama houses. “In you go and don’t come out until you’re empty. Got me?”
“Not yet, but I will.”
He thought the line fairly witty, but she rolled her eyes and closed the door in his face.
So much for his hot and sexy repartee. There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Charley Descoteaux, Jeff Tsuruoka, Gem Sivad, Goran Zidar, Veronica Scott, and Iris Blobel. Here's the blurb for BAM-BAM'S INKED HART.
Petty Officer Greg “Bam-Bam” Killian is done with marriage, done with long term relationships, and done with the Teams. The injury sustained on his last op has destroyed his dreams of being a SEAL as much as his ex-wife demolished their marriage. Now he’s free to do anything he wants, including get drunk and be miserable.
Zamora Hart has dealt with her fair share of men, both military and civilian. When a wounded petty officer washes up in her tattoo shop, she can’t help but offer him a place to stay for the weekend. She’s been where he is and doesn’t mind paying the help forward, especially when the friendship comes with some intimate benefits. It’s only temporary.
When Zamora’s ex shows up, frightening her with talk of starting over, Greg offers to stay at her place longer to give backup and repay her generosity. He doesn’t intend to fall in love with her, he’s only defending a friend while he shifts his career from active service to BUD/S instructor. But her ex’s threats become more than just talk, and Greg must step up his efforts of protection, because that’s what friends do.
But it’s only temporary and they’re just friends-with-benefits, right?
