Today I'm offering snippets from my newest release The Order of the Dragon, an paranormal romance, and Book 1 in the Warbler Peninsula series. Drake has come by Aliandra's home to apologize for being rude to her at the library. And he's bearing gifts. Aliandra is the first one to speak.
“Good evening, Dr. Cantora. May I come in for a moment?”
“Oh, of course. Come in out of the cold.” She backed inside and held the door open, the heat blooming through her banishing any cold he brought in with him. “What brings you by my home?”
A lopsided smile full of mild chagrin and boyish charm crossed his face. “I wanted to come and truly apologize for my brusqueness over the last few days. I know I visited your office and you kindly invited me to Thanksgiving, but I wanted to make sure you know I meant it.” He extended the bouquet. “These are for you.”
She took the roses and inhaled, reminding herself roses didn’t necessarily mean love or fidelity. It’s a sweet gesture and one I will encourage.
“Thank you so much. They weren’t necessary, but I love them.”
His shoulders relaxed as if he’d been worried she wouldn’t accept them. “I also wanted to invite you to have dinner with me, um, sometime.”
“Tonight?” She cursed as he backpedaled, his expression changing to uncertainty.
“Well, no, not if you’re too busy. I don’t want to impose on your free time.”
“No, no. I was just thinking I didn’t know what I’d be having for dinner, and if you’re not busy tonight, it would be a welcome change in plans.” Please, please say yes.
Damn, she sounded like an over-eager teen-aged girl. At nearly eleven hundred years old, she should know better. Pull yourself together…but Goddess, please let him accept.
Drake’s smile returned. “Excellent. Would you care to go out or stay in?”
Lurid thoughts of staying in bed with Drake while he sucked her blood from various places on her body filled her mind. Her pussy clenched with delighted need and she swallowed hard around her smile. Staying in might not be a good idea.
Or it might be the best idea.
Three Lakes was a small town and with it came small town gossip. Aliandra didn’t relish sharing Drake with anyone else just yet. She preferred to keep her interest in him private for a little while longer.
“Well, I just started a fire in the fireplace and I have some shark steaks in the fridge. I might be able to find some wine to go with it.”
“You have shark steaks?”
Drake unzipped his jacket and unwound his scarf from around his neck. Her gaze fixed on the column of his throat and her lips dried out so fast, she had to lick them. She wanted to bite him there so hard, sink her fangs into the muscle of his shoulder until her jaws ached as she rocked on his stiff cock.
Drake froze, his gaze locked on her face. Some emotion flashed through his expression too fast for her to identify, but his cheeks flushed and he swallowed hard.
“Are you well, Doctor?”
“Yes, I’m fine.” She blinked a few times, coming back to herself. “Let me put these in water before they wilt.”
