In this snippet, Estelle Three-Hearts has finished up the first photo shoot, and everyone has gone. Well, almost everyone.
“What can I do for you, Mr. Redfeather?” She gave him a warm smile.
“First, you can call me Mark.” He rested a hip against her desk as he looked down on her with those smoldering chocolate eyes. “Second, you can let me take you out to supper for your hard work today. You were amazing.”
She raised her eyebrows. “Are you asking me out on a date, Mark?”
“Yes, ma’am, I am. I’d like to spend some more time with you.”
“You were with me all day today.” She saved the downloaded images into a folder and shut down the computer as she returned her gaze to his. “You haven’t had enough?”
“Not hardly.” His eyes flared with arousal. “And I wasn’t really with you all day. I watched you work. There were too many other people here to be ‘with’ you.”
Heat curled through her chest and she shivered. “How did you want to be ‘with’ me?”
He pulled her to her feet with one hand then brought it to his lips to kiss. The heat of his lips against her fingers sent pleasure shooting straight to her groin.
“To be brutally honest, I’d like to see what you look like without a shirt.” He grinned. “But I’ll settle for supper at a local place, my treat.”
Oh, he's a smooth one. ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, J.D. Walker, Addison Albright, and Iris Blobel.
Here's the blurb to BURNING YULETIDE:
Estelle Three-Hearts has one goal for the holidays – finish her charity calendar for the ‘Smoke Detectors in Every Building’ program to provide fire safety for the citizens of Three Lakes. Luckily, her uncle is a captain for the fire department who’s recruited volunteers to pose for the sexy firefighter calendar. There’s nothing more fun to look at than half-naked firefighters all year round.
Mark Redfeather, a Firebird shifter, has learned to use his birthright for firefighting rather than fire-lighting. When his captain asked for volunteers for the charity calendar, he had no plans to participate – until he meets Estelle, and recognizes her as his mate.
Estelle is human and knows nothing about the Elder Races, but when an arsonist strikes her home and studio, Mark is forced to reveal his secret. Estelle must decide if he’s the monster she fears or the man who sets her heart on fire.
