Part of our reasoning to do this is to bring more attention to the Indie authors we love to read. With so many books out there now it's hard to figure out what is a good, well-written book...or not. Keep in mind, these are our opinions, things we like to read. The Nookettes of the Virtual writing colony of Nara's Nook have come up with this blog hop to share our favorites.
Today's offering is NIGHT WITH A SEAL by Cat Johnson. Here's the blurb:
A team of sexy SEALs, a terrorist threat, and an attraction that can't be denied...Ten years of dedication to the Navy taught SEAL Jon Rudnick one thing--he's not afraid to risk life and limb for his country. But when navigating military red tape begins to present more challenges than the enemy it makes Jon question his future. So does Alison Cressly, the woman who doesn't do one-night stands or SEALs but who broke both rules with Jon the eve of his deployment to Afghanistan. He can't get her out of his head--not while away and not now that he's back.
When Ali's life is threatened and military rules won't allow him to intervene, Jon decides it's time to take back control. The question is what would a SEAL do as a civilian? Jon's got skills, drive and an idea, as well as a few teammates willing to cover his six. And he's got the hope of more with Ali.
I received a paper copy of this book when I met Ms. Johnson at a conference. I fangirlled all over her (I'd read her other military series) and was so excited to read this one. I wasn't disappointed. Now this is a novella, a shorter tale, but Ms. Johnson handles the action and drama very well in a short story. Plus, there's a whole series of these SEALs and their women. This one is the first...and later on, Ms. Johnson revisits these characters to get their happily-ever-after. Check it out or ring out! :D
