Part of our reasoning to do this is to bring more attention to the Indie authors we love to read. With so many books out there now it's hard to figure out what is a good, well-written book...or not. Keep in mind, these are our opinions, things we like to read.
Today's offering is PROTECT AND SERVE by Sabrina York. Here's the blurb:
The last thing officer Charlie Dunham expects when he returns to his hometown is to tangle with his high school crush, Claire Silver, right off the bat. He’d planned to ignore her entirely—the way she’d always ignored him. But when a mysterious threat puts her in danger, he must step in and save her. It doesn’t take long for him to realize that he’s been lying to himself about his feelings for Claire. He wants her…no matter the cost.
This was originally a novella in an anthology, but as a stand alone tale, it's pretty damn good. I enjoyed Charlie's attraction to Claire and her own concerns about both Charlie and what her brothers would think. And the threat to her welfare? Oh yeah, it's well constructed and nail-biting. This is one of the prequel novellas Ms. York wrote to help give her Stripped Down Cowboys a running start, but it was so awesome to read. Totally recommend.
