Part of our reasoning to do this is to bring more attention to the Indie authors we love to read. With so many books out there now it's hard to figure out what is a good, well-written book...or not. Keep in mind, these are our opinions, things we like to read.
Today's offering is HER SECRET WISH by J.M Madden. Here's the blurb:
Rachel Searles, a former Marine Helicopter Pilot, normally did the rescuing, so she’s a little off balance when Denver PD officer Dean West comes to her aid in a crash. Even injured she recognizes that he’s incredibly handsome and seductive. But he also has a caring heart that appeals to a part of her she’s denied for many years.
Dean West is intrigued by the warrior woman’s spirit. As she adjusts to her new life, grounded but still vital, he wants to be a part of it. Will he be able to surmount her fears and convince her to take a chance on flying with her heart?
I read this tale both for research and to get caught up on my favorite series. I loved the connection between Rachel and Dean, and I loved their interaction from the moment he found her in a crushed car on the side of the freeway. Rachel is tall and ballsy as a retired Marine pilot. Dean is taller, but while he can take down the bad guys, he doesn't have the volatile aggression of many heroes. I liked the kindness behind his strength. I would've loved to know how they tracked down the hit-and-run driver, but the romance and growth of both characters charmed me the whole way through. Besides, I have a huge soft spot for helicopter pilots. :D
