Back in 2012 I released HER DEVOTED VAMPIRE, my first paranormal romance. I recently received my rights back to it and I'm re-vamping (lol) so I can re-release it this week. I thought I'd give you a few snippets I've been working on in anticipation of it's re-release.
So the snippet: Bridget gets mugged and stabbed on the streets of Boston, so Fredrick brings her to his home in Gloucester to take care of her, giving into his possessive streak. But they find out she's more than they expected. Cynthia, his Security Chief, is the first one to speak.
“I thought you said she had a stab wound.”
Cynthia’s statement brought Fredrick around to her side. The woman on the table had sustained an injury, but only a rough pink scar remained. What the—? As if it had occurred days ago rather than hours. Fredrick scanned her body, listening to her heartbeat. It had stabilized and settled into a steady, strong rhythm.
His gaze shot to her face. Who was this woman? She healed like one of the Elder Races. His vision hadn’t warned him about her abilities or her possible species, only that he needed to defend her from danger.
“Who is she?” Cynthia echoed his internal question, her brown-gold eyes glowing in the light. “She’s not a werewolf, and she doesn’t smell like a vampire or a Hell Hound.”
He shook his head. As the Luna, the Alpha female of the Gloucester pack, Cynthia would know the majority of the Elder Races in the area. As head of Fredrick’s security team, she made it her business to know. He trusted her nose over anyone else’s.
Maybe she’s an earth elemental.
“She’s not a vampire.” Fredrick shook his head. “I’ll have to do some research, but at the moment, we’ll have to consider her something akin to the Elder Races. This definitely explains the vision I received to go after her.”
Apparently, she is the woman he's looking for. ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Charley Descoteaux, Jeff Tsuruoka, Veronica Scott, and Iris Blobel. Here's the blurb for HER DEVOTED VAMPIRE (with the new cover!):
How far would you go to get away?
Bridget Shanahan’s life seems bleak and boring until she gets mugged and abducted from her favorite coffee shop by the sexiest man she’s ever met. Unfortunately, he’s a lunatic who believes he’s some kind of vampire savior surrounded by a security force of werewolves. Worse, he’s determined to keep her.
Fredrick MacGregor has been having visions of this woman in danger for the last six months. A woman he must protect at all costs. However, when he brings her home, she doesn’t believe in vampires or Avatars, and she definitely doesn’t want to stay. But the sense of danger persists and he’ll do anything to keep her safe, even if it costs his own life to preserve hers.
This title should be re-released April 26 2016.
