Authors: this is a great opportunity to spotlight a few lines or even a paragraph or two from a new release or backlisted title. Readers: you get to sample some delicious snippets! We’ll do our best to tease, titillate and tantalize you into the weekend.
Today I'm offering snippets of Bronco's Rough Ride, the first story in the Bad Boys of Beta Squad books. It's the prequel to The Navy's Ghost and Rimshot's Hard Target, and tells the story of how John Andrews met his wife. It also has a link to my upcoming release, SECOND CHANCE SUCCUBUS. In this tease, Lindsey has given John the nullifer and is helping him escape.
“Let’s get you dressed all the way and we’ll be out the door.”
“It sounds like you’re getting your voice back.”
“That’s not how I’d describe it.” She winked.
Lindsey laughed and worked his dress pants up to his hips, deftly tucking his damp cock and balls inside. John grunted with her touches, but didn’t protest. She buttoned his shirt and tucked only half of it into the pants before she secured the button.
“Give me a moment. I think I have a belt for you as well as a tie.”
“Yeah, you need to look ready for the Club, even if you’ve had sex before you got there.” Lindsey winked again as she searched the suit bag for the articles she’d bought. The shiny, mustard yellow tie matched his eyes and she laid it over his chest while she worked on his pants. “I think I found the right sized belt. Your hips are trimmer than I remembered. Don’t worry, you won’t have to wear it very long.”
“Already…want…me undresssssed…again?” Humor laced his slurred words.
Lindsey laughed. “Hell yeah, but I meant we can have you in sweats when we get to where we’re going.” She tucked in the rest of the shirt as she buckled the belt then added the tie around his neck. “There. You’re a pretty sharp dressed man.”
John grunted. “No beard.”
“Heh, smart guy.” She shook her head at his smile. “Okay, let me get your shoes on and dispose of my phone. Then we’ll be ready.”
He dipped his chin in a small nod and she finished dressing him. *Jeez, even his feet are sexy.* Once she had the shoes tied, she took her phone into the bath and slammed it against the marble tub. The expensive screen shattered, a spider-web of cracks radiating across the face. She removed the battery on the back and the SD card buried under it, and shoved them in her purse. She dropped the phone in the wastebasket. *Good luck finding us now.*
“Almost there.” She strode through the room and deposited her purse and shoes near the door. She scanned the suite for anything that could be traced back to her once she’d gone and nodded with satisfaction. All they had to do was get out into the hallway.
Straightening her dress, she reached the bed and studied John’s still form. He’d closed his eyes and looked just like an exhausted businessman collapsed on the bed. Guilt and sorrow stole some of her contentment at the bags under his eyes, but they’d needed to wait for the nullifier to work enough for him to move.
He opened his eyes and all exhaustion left his face, replaced by a determined intensity. He might lie prone, but every inch of him screamed warrior. Wide awake and aware, he scanned her body and she hoped she measured up to whatever standard he held.
