Part of our reasoning to do this is to bring more attention to the Indie authors we love to read. With so many books out there now it's hard to figure out what is a good, well-written book...or not. Keep in mind, these are our opinions, things we like to read. The Nookettes of the Virtual writing colony of Nara's Nook have come up with this blog hop to share our favorites.
Today's offering is SACRED WATERS by Lydia Michaels. Here's the blurb:
Colin McCullough has always known the path his life would take and at summer’s end he will finally make his Holy Orders. But what should have been a relaxing summer in the mountains with his large Irish family turns into an interlude plagued with temptation the moment his brother brings home the enchanting Samantha Dougherty.
When Samantha agrees to spend her summer break with Braydon McCullough she soon realizes his intentions are not what they seemed. While coping with Braydon’s assumptions that they are in a relationship, Samantha’s vacation only becomes more complicated when she meets his older brother, Colin, the soon to be priest! What was intended to be a peaceful holiday turns into an unforgettable experience of loyalty, lust, sacrifice, courage, and love.
I loved this book so much I just re-read it last night. I'm not usually into contemporary romance, but good glory, this woman is quite the storyteller. This is the first in a seven book series (well, there's eight with the prequel). The story is of the McCullough family and Colin McCullough meets Samantha Dougherty, who he thinks is his brother's girlfriend. Colin is planning to take his vows come the end of summer to become a Catholic priest and Sam wants to respect that. She has no illusions about where their relationship can go. What I loved about this story is the very real understanding of what love is, and the truth in the phrase God is Love. Colin makes himself and Sam work for their happily-ever-after, and it's a close thing, especially with the grand development at the end (no I won't spoil it). In addition to it being a fantastic story, it's also hot and sexy. I highly recommend it.
